This is a very short and sweet post to explain, why I use the term “Robust Research” to describe what I’m interested in and working on. On the one hand, I’m interested in Open Research practices and my definition of that includes (but is not limited to): Open Access publishing, Open data, Open methods, Open hardware, Open source software, Citizen Science and aspects of Open Research culture like equality, diversity and inclusivity.
But Open Research and transparency ist just one ingredient of high quality research. The second ingredient is good research practice across the cycle of a research project, from how we develop hypotheses, design studies, acquire and analyse data, interpret results and report and publish them.
When these two ingredients are mixed, you hopefully get reliable research evidence and that’s what I call “Robust Research”.
